Living and Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Community, Holy Communion and Servanthood Ministry

Assistance Ministry

St. Thomas Episcopal Church has established an Assistance Ministry to safeguard the single members of God’s family, especially those older members of the parish who live alone and do not have relatives or close friends nearby to assist them if problems are encountered.

The services provided under the program include regular contact with the person being served; regular visits by program volunteers to the person’s home, or other place of residence (hospital, care facility, etc.); transportation to Church, store, doctor’s or lawyer’s offices or other essential places; calls or emails to distant relatives or friends, as requested by the parishioner; helping to care for pets; and helping with other requirements of daily living, as may be agreed.

Assistance ministry services are lovingly provided by volunteer members of St. Thomas, are confidential and are free of any charge. The services are overseen by the Church’s Assistance Ministry Committee. Professional services, such as nursing, medical, legal, accountancy services are not provided, but assistance ministry volunteers may help parishioners to obtain such services.

If you wish to receive assistance ministry services, please complete and sign the attached form and submit it to the Church office. An assistance ministry volunteer will contact you as quickly as possible.
